NBD: Fender Classic 50s P-Bass

I was never big into sunbursts until I got a Sting sig. model Fender, followed by a sig. Mike Dirnt. Then I went down a big bass-playing rabbit hole and started thinking about a Classic Player 50's P Bass....also in 2-tone sunburst. I got what I think was a great deal and the seller included an unopened Fender ashtray set and thumbrest. I don't plan on installing them anytime soon but they added value to the purchase!

Looks like mine, and I love it. First P.
I think I will have pickguard and body drilled for easier access to the truss rod,
although it seems very very stable so no rush.

I have been gigging this Classic 50s for a few years now. Absolutely love the bass for it's tone, playability and stability! Have not had to do anything to this bass in three years. You made a good choice!!!

This one is DR Black Beauty equipped these days...stock pickups and wiring.

When these came out a few years ago I thought it was the best way to buy a 57 RI without paying a lot. It's the same thing but no covers and tug bar, and a "close enough" set up typically.

The first bass I ever picked up & plucked on (in a guitar shop back in 1987) was a Squier JV in the same 2 tone sunburst. Still love the look of these basses .

Great looking bass! You should install the tug bar and covers (if you're into that kind of thing, which some people are, me included, it's what really gives it that vintage vibe, but if you're not, that's cool too, it's your bass after all.)
