NBD - fender highway 1 first gen

I was browsing the Facebook classifieds when I ran into a 2003 highway 1 jazz bass. First iteration without the Badass. The price was reasonable and the seller was very friendly.

Haven’t plugged it in yet but the general feel of the bass is fantastic. I put a set of SIT strings and tweaked the neck a bit. The weight is great , the neck profile is nice , the rosewood is dark. I would say I got a 9.8 out of 10 deal.

Nice Bass! I ended up trading a one off acoustic Bass for a Highway One with the badass bridge and the same color as yours. I love the feel of the neck and the setup is superb. Great low priced Fender!

Yeah , I’m reading mixed reviews on those. Let’s hope they sound fantastic

These are great if you get a 'good' one. I had one (bought new) and the fretwork was iffy and I didn't like the tuners. But the sound was good

Well, to be fair the nut isn’t cut right. The tuners don’t look great at first sight but they are 100% solid after 20+ years so they can’t be bad.

I had a one like that before except it was a precision. In my case is was nothing extraordinary. It was kinda heavy too.

I like the necks on those. I have a Highway One (gen II) neck on a US Fender Jazz body and like it better than any of the US Fender Jazz necks I've played. Well, I did have a Roadworn that was exceptional. But those tended to need frequent adjustment.

Yes. I have a very good feeling about this one. I’ll take it to rehersal tonight and hopefully it will sound as good as it feels and looks

It is essentially a Mexican bass that says USA on it. I have a first gen Highway 1 P bass. It is easily the best P bass I have ever played.

Nice! I have a first generation Jazz Bass around here somewhere, but mine's got the Sunburst finish. Plays great and has a clear, snappy tone. You're going to love that bass,
