Picked this Fender American Jazz with hardshell case at a pawn shop today for $359. I searched the serial number it's a Fender American standard V. Not a fan of 5 strings but I felt it was a good deal. Any input on these basses?

Dude! $359?? Was it stolen?? You might contact local authorities… That’s a criminally low price.
Getting that kind of deal on a USA Fender is extremely rare! You really got lucky! I hope the trussrod is good. That fingerboard looks dry and I hope you can a good action. I had an in-line five almost identical to yours. It was quite a good bass. You may not like fives, but you might as well get handy on it now that you own it.
Truss rod works great I'm going to condition the fretboard change the strings and set it up. I think the pawn shop thought it was MIM for some reason
Congratulations on getting the deal of the year! There are Squier basses that aren't that inexpensive.
That being said, I'm thinking about going to some local pawn shops to look around for deals like this. You never know what you might find.

I used to frequent a pawn shop that I swore didn't know what an interwebs was. Then they found it and now they think they are Reverb when it comes to used prices.
Wherever this pawn shop is, visit it frequently with wads of cash in your pocket and get whatever mis-priced stuff they have that is interesting. Because if you don't, one day, you will regret it... trust me.

I'm still trying to find something wrong with this bass. When I looked at the tag it said fender mex. I think the guy at the pawn shop had bought it with the intent on buying it himself and it got put out before he could. I bought a Kramer DMZ I think it is at a different pawn shop last week for $54. That one I was told an ex employee had priced it, marked it sold and never paid for it lol.
I've seen this pawn shop where I got the jazz offer a guy $60 on a Fender MIM Mustang P&J bass.
Did he take it? If so, I would have hid in the back until he was gone and then offered them $100. Maybe everything isn't QUITE up to date in Kansas City"?

Spend another $200-$250 on it for a professional fret level/crown- or better yet a plek. Put some DR Sunbeams on it. Stick your 4 stringers under your bed for 6 months. You will be a 4 string player no more.

He didn't. I bought it from him for $225 lol. That was the price he wanted.
