Hey everyone!

So I just recently received my first MusicMan bass as a late college graduation present from my father. A spectacular Stingray Classic that also operates in passive mode. Apparently these were a GC limited run. It sounds great and these pics don't do it justice.

Nothing matches EBMM electronics...they have a tonal palate all their own.
BTW, that first dude must have had a really bad day or else he's just heard that phrase once too many times about himself from the women in his life.
A used EBMM Sterling is the best bass for the money on the used market, IMHO.

OP, that is an awesome bass!! I'm gassing hard for a ray myself. How does it sound in passive? I assume it has a tone knob when in passive?

Passive mode is pretty cool. The tone knob really opens up the sound and it still has that stingray edge. I've been playing through a vox amplug headphone amp since I've got it. Tonight I get to play it at practice through my MB210!

It's the same black / rosewood combination as the one Flea used to play too.

I heard the bodies on these 'classics' are slab cut and don't have any contours, is that true?

That is extremely cool. I would love to try a stingray passive. And i love the color. Don't ever sell it.

FWIW, I have not played a passive Stingray, but my EBMM Big Al bass, played in passive mode, sounds really great, and I assume your Stingray Classic will sound great too!
