NBD - First Sire

Back to gigging soon and I needed a 5-string. Last year I sold my gigging basses and kept a P-Bass. Debated getting another TRBX 5-string like I had (liked them so much I had 2 for gigging) but wanted something more traditional. I found a sub 9lb. Sire V3 on Sweetwater and it arrived today. I've mostly been a jazz bass guy and this one does not disappoint. Sounded great with the stock rounds but I needed a rounder, reggae sound so I picked up a set of my favorite GHS Precision flats and they feel and sound lovely on Misty (the name just came up as I was typing - lol). Really, they call it sonic blue. You sure get alot of bass for the money these days!

Great name for a great looking bass. I was seriously GASsing for a Sire 5er a few weeks ago, but when the day came to pull the trigger, the store was closed for inventory and I ended up getting a Stingray 5. The Sires I played were sweet-playing and had great active J tones. Still on the GAS list for sure!

Nothing disappointing about walking out with a Stingray5! Haha The preamp has a lot of range but it's great it has a passive w/tone also. My fretting wrist is currently healing from a fall and surprisingly this neck is more comfortable than my Fender 4. I really liked the rolled edges on her too.

Yeah, I'm a neck snob and those feel great. Rolled edges aren't real common at that price point and the neck profile felt good to me on the ones I had a chance to play.
