Did you buy the stringer? Looks like what I was thinking if making at work Monday.

Well, I spent most of yesterday jumping back and forth between my MIM Jazz and the Foundation. Played a lot of different types. With help from my 18yr old daughter (she listens to mostly metal), I figured out why I am not as keen to the tone of the Foundation. It is, to my ear, very "modern" sounding.
I was thinking, all these poor folks out there spending $100-1000's to "upgrade" could save a ton and buy an old Peavey. Were they that far ahead of the oack back in the "good ol' days"?
Gonna make me a truss wrench at work tomorrow and see how good I can get this setup.

Heh, one of my Foundations was like that. Had to carve out the access port with an exacto knife. I removed quite a bit of wood before the wrench could get in there. This was an '86 model, it had never been adjusted 'til I got it 30 years later. Naturally, the seller didn't mention the issue.

Made it from 1/4" brass rod. Filed the top flat, drilled/countersunk the holes and polished before I cut it off and finished the cut end. It's a lot easier when you have something to clamp or hang onto.

I've run into the no room for anything but the thin Peavey factory wrench before, too. Did the same as Templar.

I see your Foundation is for sale now....what does yours weigh if I might ask?

I really like the solid feel on my 85 Foundation and yes it is a modern rock sound!

I would not be a bit surprised if one of the small boutique pickup winders could easily come up with a replacement for these with alnico magnets and a vintage Fender style wind.

To me the split maple neck design on these is the reason for the very stable neck (on mine at least).

I don't know peoples, now that I have it set up to my taste, I am flat out loving this thing. Just wish it had a maple fb. This neck is SO FAST. Got her strung with Rotosound 66. Playing through my trusty Peavey 300 and Peavey 1516. Not loving it more than my Jazz, but right up there!!!

You probably noticed the Super Ferites are pretty hot so lowering the pickups will help thin out the sound and get a more vintage vibe...but why. Believe me, their sound will grow on you.

Peavey basses have been either ahead of the curve or at least right there with it since day one. T-40s are awesome instruments if you can deal with the looks and learn the controls.
