In my quest for the basses that work well for me I've come across 2 makers that really "do it" for me. Spector and G&L. Both do aggressive and in your face, the Spectors are more hi-fi and spanky and the G&Ls are more of a "blow your ass out" traditional tone.

In looking for a 4 string for my arsenal I came across this ASAT on the 'bay and ended up getting a killer deal on it. It's a semi-hollow ash body with gun oil tinted neck and body and neck binding. Standard electronic scheme which is killer. The ash body is a bit tighter and snappier than my older L-2500, which I believe is basswood with ash top. The bass is neck heavy...the previous owner added an additional strap button lower on the side which helps. With the height at which I wear my bass standing up the bass sits just above horizontal which I really like. The neck feels very P-bass-ish in dimension....not sure since I don't own a p-bass. I'm overall very pleased with this bass and the fit and finish are spectacular like every G&L I've ever played. Thanks for looking!
