NBD: G&L Custom Shop CLF L-2500

I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
I must be in the minority, but I really prefer the modern headstock over the classic. The classic one just looks like an unfinished paddle, luckily though, not awful like Alleva-Coppolo, Warwick, etc. The modern shape is sleek and distinctive.
And the flamed three-piece necks! My guess on the necks is cost....
I wholeheartedly agree on the Modern 4+1 vs Classic
My neck is actually 4-piece flame maple. I have seen a 3-piece regular maple from the same era (96-97). I have never seen another neck like this one.
That's if G&L ever responds to my local dealer. They are horrible at customer service.

Man. I just emailed Arbutus yesterday to ask them to remind G&L that it's been over a year since I ordered the bass and it's still not what I ordered. So unless you work with a US based dealer with pull at G&L, I would not recommend a custom order from G&L. Even Yamaha, who are notorious for bad customer service, was able to get a problem resolved in three months or less.
I'm still holding out hope that G&L will make this right someday, but I may have to resort to complaining a ton on social media again.

I must agree. That fretless Kiloton 5 is probably my favourite bass ever, even though I rarely play fretless. And the L-2500 will become my favourite if G&L ever gets my replacement neck with the options I want.
Both of those basses are ridiculously cool.
I should post some clearer photos now that I have a new phone, but I was hoping the my neck would be here by now.
I own a little cousin combo of the two. It's a black L2000 fretless with an ebony board. They are some well crafted instruments.

The old ones look like there was a fingerprint on the camera lens...!!!
They also make me want to rub my eyes.
It wasn't a fingerprint, my lens cover shattered on my phone. I replaced it only to find that the actual lens had become scratched.
But I have a new phone finally, so your wish is my command...
It's so hard to get shots without reflections, so you can make out my studio gear and Vader poster and pedalboard in the various shots.
Here's a shot of the whole herd. CLF-L2500, Fender Jazz Japanese '75 reissue, custom Reverend Decision P, Fretless Kiloton 5. (There's a Reverend Double Agent OG guitar in there, but it's not important).
OMG. After eight long months of waiting, G&L finally sent my replacement neck (hopefully correct). On my way to Nanaimo to pick it up. Back in several hours with updated shots of what I actually ordered.

What a stunner! Man, I've loved every L series I've owned, whether USA or Tribute. Have never tried, but have always wanted to try the K Mod. Read about a player that had his L series modded through Rocket Music with an additional switch to select inner/outer coils in K Mod. Anyway, enjoy that beauty!!
