NBD: G&L Custom Shop CLF L-2500

OMG. After eight long months of waiting, G&L finally sent my replacement neck (hopefully correct). On my way to Nanaimo to pick it up. Back in several hours with updated shots of what I actually ordered.

PS: I'm not even sure which headstock I am getting.

Wouldn't it be funny if you like the old neck better...?

Well, the neck is correct and this time they did the CLF style headstock. I've dropped the bass off, but they didn't have time for the install today, and I don't have free time again until Friday. So my update will be on Friday.

Anyway, enjoy that beauty!!

I do, and will. And I'll enjoy it even more with the neck I planned for.

Hm does this mean that you will have a spare neck?

I'm wondering the same thing. Arbutus Music didn't say one way or another, but I get the feeling I'll have a spare 5 string neck, maple with black blocks.

Wouldn't it be funny if you like the old neck better...?

I thought of that as well. Unless they seriously messed up the radius, or the nut, or the fit for the pocket, I can't really see how that would happen.

As promised, here are some shots of my "finally" completed custom shop order. They got everything right this time except the decals. I had asked for the model number to be included. Doh.

It's hard to get shots of a glossy black bass, so I took various angles and backgrounds.

Holy Moly!! Wowza! That natural binding makes the whole bass. Excellent choice. And the black blocks. Just wow all around. Congratulations

Unfortunately not. The store is waiting to here from G&L what to do with it.

Well, after an 8 month wait, my first custom shop ordered bass finally arrived. Unfortunately, they didn't do my neck binding, so now I'll be waiting on the replacement neck. But that's a minor issue as this thing is glorious.

A black CLF L-2500 in alder with wood binding, a Modern C5 neck, maple board, black blocks, and the modern rather than classic head stock. The only reason it has the modern head stock is that they told me the were having trouble doing neck binding with the classic head stock. Then, apparently, they forgot to do it.

She plays beautifully, and I have the K-mod for the coil tap. Bridge pickup with coil tap is now my favorite tone. I also found that the overall output is quite a bit lower than the '98 I had.

And the binding makes all the difference. Both on the body and the neck. Really makes it classy.
