Just want to share my excitement…
today is my NBD for G&L L2000 premium made in japan. I bought it yesterday from used stuff market price local japan (mercari) for 48k jpy = 450 usd, which is a good bargain (lower than market price).its black body alder with 1 pcs maple neck and as you already know mfd pickup + complete legendary pre amp.
I bought it as impulsive reaction (before i said to my wife to use some of our saving) because around 3 years ago i have L2000 tribute made in On 3 tone sunburst. Despite of their good tone, im not comfortable with their huge baseball bat neck (i have typical asian hand size) that made me a little bit slow in maneuver my left hand movement. So i sold it with some 75 usd profit.
Personally i really like this G&L premium MIJ, the tonal flexibility is beyond average. And the built quality is superb, even though i never try the US made but i know its at same league with the US.
this bass basically made in fujigen, for local market in here but the electronic is same wise as US made. the things that different with my old tribby MII that this one have 38 nut width and coil tap sw (output is like sweet Jbass with steroid). L2K tribby has 44mm nut width and no coil tap sw. And the overall output is massive compare with my other basses, even compare with my EBMM stingray 4 and my custom ocelot bass. maybe same or a little bit lower than my SIRE.
I dont know why used G&L is not as hype as used FENDER even though this is the latest masterpiece from Leo him self. All fender Mania should try a piece of this bass and feels the differences of this beast.
Anyway without further a due here is the bass in the middle of my SBMM RAY34 and SIRE V3. And yes i am team “bLACK” half of my colllections are in black
