Interesting, you took a slightly different approach than me. Thank you for the info. The weird thing is that with my mod of replacing that bolt with a shorter one, I can move the saddle all the way back. So even further than yours. And the intonation is still slightly off. And my D saddle is way further back than any of the others. Hmm.

That is weird. Maybe ask for a replacement D string from Pyramid or the distributor. I want to put the Pyramids back on to double check but I think they intonated very close to the LTF pictured above, maybe a little forward.

@Doug4321's idea of flipping the saddle so that the screw goes to the front is worth trying, IMO, if possible and if it allows you to eke out some extra mm's of compensation.

He didn't flip it, he carved out part of the saddle. My solution allows me to move it even farther back (all the way back actually), so I guess I don't understand what you are proposing.

I know he didn't. However, he also said the following:

Sorry - you're right, I was missing that when I went back. Yeah, I could try it. I'm starting to find the exercise a little ridiculous though, I kind of want to put it back the way it came and find strings that will work on it. Problem is I do like these Pyramids so maybe it's worth the effort. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure though something is defective with lermgalieu’s D string. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a D have to go back so much vs the others.

I sent messages to both the retailer (Strings & Beyond) and Pyramid. Hoping S&B will send me a new one, because Pyramid is in Germany, so might take some time.

Update: not sure how long it will take, but Pyramid is sending me a new D string. So we shall see.
