NBD - Guild Starfire II

Some history: in 2003, I bought a Gold Jack Casady. In 2004, our house was broken into in Portland, and it was stolen (along with a Fender P-Lyte, an Ibanez acoustic guitar, and a bunch of other stuff). My journey has led to many other basses since, but nothing semi-hollow. I've always wanted to fill that hole, and thought I would eventually get another Casady. Well, lo and behold I found a great deal on this beauty. Can't wait to put it through its paces.

I have a Casady and love it... I feel your pain at the loss. But this bass should help fill the void.

I know some players love that chunky Casady neck, but I’ll take the Starfire any day. Enjoy

Looks great ! I bought one just like it in 1971 , it was probably a 67 . It made my Gibson EB3 sound like poo . It only left me when I traded it for a Ric . I could get the Guild to have some grind with half round strings but just not enough to get the Yes or Who like tone I wanted . I really loved that bass .

I've had a 2017 Starfire II exactly like yours for almost three years now and I've never regretted buying mine. It's not my number one for gigs and I don't enjoy playing it at home as often as my other basses for my own entertainment, but when the gig situation is ripe for it, the Guild really delivers far above its price and arguably is my best bass for many recording purposes.

Congratulations & Compliments, I had a 2017 Starfire to go with my 1967... it was a fantastic bass, a fine tribute to the original. Hard to believe there was 50 years between them. I recently sold the newer one to a fellow TB'r.

My 20th Anniv Jack bass was my go to for my Airplane band. Then I landed a killer 66 Starfire I. So cool, felt great and I was awed by it and it fit the bill great. Just last couple of weeks I picked up the 20th Anniv again and fell in love with it again. It is now my go to for Tuna and Airplane stuff over the 66. Guess there is a reason besides contract Jack plays his Epiphone. I have been tempted to go for the new Starfire 2s. Im sure they are great. Enjoy!

Beautiful! I saw one of the older MIK dearmonds for sale in Springfield for $500 not long ago. I don’t need another bass, but that was a very tempting deal.
Sorry about the break in, though. There’s a special place in hell for gear thieves.

Congrats! My junior cousin to your bass arrived today, I'm just a beginner but it's really fun to play so far. I swapped the strings for D'Addario Chromes, it's still brighter sounding than my old Vantage. But they're a nice pair, 32" & 30.75" feels pretty easy to switch between.

I've owned a Les Paul Signature Bass, the inspiration for the Jack Cassidy Epiphone, and a few versions of the Guild Starfire over the years. Both are great instruments and will please you well, I hope you enjoy this, sounds like it's a long time coming!
