NBD: Harley Benton Beat Bass Fretless

I ordered a Harley Benton bass to mod a little.

Phase 1 mods: Zero-glide nut, Hofner Ebony bridge, Roto 88 medium-scale tape wounds, KNA DB-1 piezo in the bridge.

I may order some Hoftner staple pickups or something else. I still need to get the action lowered and the string spacing fixed.

This is my first fretless. So I'm not sure where to start in terms of learning how to really play it. My goal is to get some URB sounds out of it.

Originally, I bought this because a bassist friend of mine injured his arm. He couldn't play his upright for a while. So I was hoping to put together something for him to use while he heals.

I'd like to have the KNA piezo hard-wired into the bass. I'm not sure the best way to do that so I can blend all the pickups together.

You need a dual buffer preamp. The Noll Mixpot 1 would do:

You also need to read up on the Höfner control plate, so that you can rework it in order to fit the dual buffer. Something like a concentric volume/volume pot at the first knob position, and the buffer balance pot at the other, leaving the rest of the circuit unchanged?
