NBD: I made it 2 months (but Sandberg got me)

So far in 2023 I've sold a couple of basses but haven't purchased anything… until my buddy Morten at Bass Buddha posted this. And it was on.

This is a Sandberg VM5, hardcore aged. 35" scale. 2-band active/passive w/ Sandberg black label reverse P and MM pickups. Alder body/rosewood board. 8.875lb.

Great fretwork. Nice wide/thin neck. Low action. Well-balanced. Really clear tones. I'm impressed!

I'm not necessarily a fan of relic basses, but Sandberg really does a nice job. This one's very cool.

Same here. I listened to a lot of sound samples on YouTube and this is exactly what was in my head. It's different than anything I own. I have the perfect gig for it.

Next time I'm in Denmark I hope to get to Arhus and visit his shop. I was in a music store in Copenhagen a few years ago and they had lots of Sandbergs!

Same here. I listened to a lot of sound samples on YouTube and this is exactly what was in my head. It's different than anything I own. I have the perfect gig for it.

I also watched some videos and liked what I was hearing. You get 2 basses in one, a P bass and a Musicman, and I loved the the sound of both pickups combined.

I do not like damaged (relic) basses.

But reverse P, MM, light weight, good balance - man that looks like a winner!

I was just going to ask if you could buy un-reliced basses from them, as I like the T-Bird they have but would never buy a reliced bass.

They have a lot of clean basses for sale as well. Their relic basses are kind of special because the wood goes through a vibration treatment that makes the bass play like a much older bass. But if you want non-relic, they can certainly do it.

Same. I've bought a few basses and some amps/cabs from Morten over the years. I'd love to hang with him a bit. Such a sweetheart of a guy.

Congrats! That's a sweet looking bass!

Ever since I tried one of their lightweight 5-string J style basses in Seattle, I've been kind of tempted to purchase one. When I picked up the bass, I couldn't believe it. A 5-string active J style bass, and it was like 6 lbs. It didn't feel real.

I did the same. Every clip I was seeing it in it sounded good and it had all the halmarks of a comfortable and well balanced bass and it is!

I was really surprised at how piano-like the tone is. Tons of clarity. I am going to enjoy this bass for sure.
