I had one of those shipped to my local GC. The pickup was seriously weak on the E string, so I ended up not buying it. Maybe another pickup would have made it usable, bit the one I tried wasn't.

I've got a bass with nylon tapewounds, it sounds great but annoying hum - when I record it, I run a second cable (just for the ground - no signal) and tuck it into a sock on one foot - haha. It's silly, especially when I set the bass down and walk away forgetting there's a cable in my sock - lol - but it works great to kill the hum.

I bought a 50s Squier and the same thing, I can't put it down. I play it more than the J and P combined. Great find!

Awesome! To my eye the pickup position on the Squier Cabronita is closer to the original Custom Shop Porrazo Bass that it's based on than the MIM Cabronita, and I think it really comes through tonally. Will also attest that a ThunderBlade is an awesome choice, as I installed one in that position on one of my basses and I love it. That pickup is what Fender used in their Proto Precision Bass a few years back (also based on the Porrazo but styled like a 50s P).
