I placed my order for this with Sweetwater in February. It finally arrived last week.
Specs: Ibanez Premium SR1100B. 5-piece roasted maple and purpleheart neck. Roasted birdseye maple fretboard. "premium fret end treatment". KTS titanium neck reinforcement. Nordstrand Big Single pickups.
Other than the color (it was either matte pearl white or matte sea foam green), I am blown away by this bass. Here are my initial impressions:
* Build quality: A++ This seems to be as good or better than any of the US-made basses I've played. The fret work is great, including beautifully rounded and polished fret ends. The fretboard edges are nicely rounded. The neck pocket is perfect, and nearly invisible. The paint is perfect. The controls feel nice and smooth. The only thing I can see, and it is cosmetic, is that the fretboard inlays are not exactly the same size as their routed holes, and brown filler/glue was used to fill the tiny gaps.
* Sound: The Nordstrand Big Singles deliver the goods. This thing is a monster. I'm going to keep the stock D'Addario strings on it for a while, and eventually change to NYXLs (my new favorite strings).
* Playability: Out of the box, the intonation is perfect. The action is perhaps a tad too high for my taste, but still perfectly playable. And the Ibanez neck is really, really comfortable (if you like thin necks). My other bass is an NS Design headless, so I've been spoiled by the total lack of neck dive. Having said that, with the strap snugged up a bit the Ibanez balances well.
