NBD: Ibanez SDGB1

You got me. Okay, here it is.

Quick impressions:
the neck feels AMAZING. The tonal range is massive. Turning on the pre-amp is....epic. I can only imagine it's how Thor feels when he calls down the lightning. Everything about it feels quality with the exception of the cheap-ass battery compartment that Ibanez insists on using. I had to replace the one on my Portamento, and I'll probably do the same with this ASAP. The intonation is a bit off, but it plays beautifully so far. Once I do a setup on it, it should be even better.

What will you replace the battery compartment with?

Just unpacked my Ibanez SDGB1 Steve DiGiorgio Signature model from Sweetwater. Getting familiar with it now. Initial impressions are that I love it. More to come.
Congrats on your new fretless! Play it in good health and have fun!

I played one of those in GC recently and it was a cool bass. The unlined fretboard was strange to me at first, but I got used to it after a few minutes. I couldn’t get used to the 5th string on the bottom. I would love if Steve and Ibanez came out with a 4 string version!

I was bummed there wasn’t a six string version. My go to until now was an Ibanez SRF706. But I’m very happy with this five.
