Thankfully I have a BTB too so I dont get stuck on The skinny neck ;D

You got the same exact model and prolly the same year SR that I did. I got a 2009 1/2 model year - before the toggle switch near the jack.

I was kinda bummed at getting 'last year's model' when I bought it, but after trying the later model with the switch, I found I wasn't missing anything.

My instructor has a 5-er of the same bass and I find I don't really need that fifth string because I've never broken a string and I feel carrying an extra around is kinda silly.

I never have flat tires either.

Strange to me anyway - is that my 2010 Fender Deluxe Jazz has almost the same voice as the SR500.

The SR500 is more or less an active Jazz bass.

Not too sure what 'more or less' implies here - mine is totally active. You don't actually believe that the toggle switches from active to passive - right? Please say you don't.

I think you misunderstood me. The "more or less" referred to the jazz part, not the active part.

The 500 series are great...especially the 505 and 500...the 506 is a great bass as well, but I personally cant stand the neck dive on it.
