NBD: just another P bass - one piece body??

Scored my first P bass in a minute yesterday from a great local shop. Early 90s MIM that plays incredibly well and looks to be one solid piece of alder. Was that common for the early Mexican basses? I've had a few other early ones that have all been incredible instruments but were always solid colors.

It is likely many pieces with a top and back veneer as that's how they built them for a while. Looks great, saves money. Good news is there is no way to hear those extra glue lines so enjoy the look.

Ah that makes a lot more sense. I like the playability of this one more than any of my (crappy and abused) vintage Ps and it was a steal. It could be discount plywood and it would still be my favorite.
