Got this in yesterday and amazed at the amplified tone, also works enough acoustically for private practice. I slept on these for a while, never gave them a thought but after deciding I needed something portable for an acoustic gig, I did some research and these do not disappoint! I've owned a couple headless basses and have to say these are a better solution for portable practice as I don't need headphones and a headphone amp. Made a short clip of the sound.

Hi, I have just purchased one of these myself but am slightly concerned about the output volume as when plugged into the passive input on my amp, the volume has to be up around 10 o'clock, whereas with my passive Mustang Bass, it would only need to be on about 8 o'clock for a similar, fairly loud, giggable volume. On my computer audio interface I can barely get any volume when playing to music - the mix control has to be nearly all bass and very little music (even with the UBass volume on max). Does anyone else have this problem?

It probably has to do with the input impedance on your amp and interface. Piezo pickups like a higher impedance like 10MOhm.

Thanks TideSwing. I got in touch with Kala customer service who were very quick to respond and suggest that I reseat the saddle after detuning the strings, effectively pulling the saddle away from the neck, then tuning back up. That made all the difference! I now have an output that matches my Mustang bass and am a happy man!

Glad to hear you got it resolved and good to know in case anyone ever has a similar issue.
