Maybe I am just used to headless gear chasing Steinberger, but I found this surprising as most headless hardware I've come across is 18mm for the *4* stringers... forget 19mm for a 5'er!

Yes, I was surprised at the 19mm spacing at the bridge too. And I was coming from recently playing my 5 string short scale Brice, which feels to me like very narrow spacing at the bridge (16mm). I read a ton of reviews where people said Vaders are comfortable to play, so I took the chance. It does narrow quite a lot; at the nut the width of the neck is 1.78”. (For reference, my Brice is 1 3/4” or 1.75” at the nut.)

The further up to the bridge you play, the wider the string spacing. But it sort of compensates in a way for the frets getting closer and closer together on the 30” scale neck, lol. Maybe I’m just getting old and my eyesight is shot, but I feel like since there is more room between strings than I’m used to, especially above the 12th fret, my accuracy is a little better, lol! And for sure, the wider spacing makes slapping way easier.

Out of curiosity, I just looked at the specs for a 6 string Vader, and it is only 16.25mm at the bridge. That’s quite a difference!
