Double Bass NBD: KK Baby-Bass

I'd have to let Kris speak for himself on future plans, but I do know that a friend of mine just purchased a new KK, and Kris included the new bridge design on his bass before it shipped. That was upon request of the buyer, but I'm not sure if it'll be his standard offering or not. I asked for a modified bridge, and Kris was kind enough to make one available for me, as well. I'm waiting for it to arrive tomorrow.

Does anyone know what is this nut for?

Does it adjust the neck?

I find that when I play around the middle of the neck, lest say the 7th position. The string seem really high and hard to play.

It adjusts the neck tilt. In other words, the angle of the neck....not neck relief, as in adjusting the truss rod on a bass guitar.

ah great, actually i meant to say neck tilt, would you know if I need to loosen the strings to do so and give it like a quarter turn, try and then keep adjusting if necessary?
I mean is this as easy as adjusting a truss road?

It probably would be best to loosen them somewhat, for no other reason than to relieve some tension off the adjuster bolt. The bolt head can dig into the finish if you turn it too much under tension. Not required though, depending on the direction of the tilt.

I just received my KK Baby Bass, the only issue was it was damaged in shipment. Now the ending of this story is a happy one. Kris was diligent and made sure I was happy, being fully cooperative in working with the insurance company to enable me to get my bass repaired locally. The damage was caused in shipping showing two quarter inch chips and some spider cracks that happened by an apparent extremely hard hit to the external shipping box, makes me wish I had ordered the hard case for my bass. The instrument was packed well so it wasn't something that should have happened. Kris even called me after I initially contacted him about the damage in shipping and we went over the procedure to make the damage claim. I love the instrument, it plays and sounds great, and I would highly recommend Kris and his instruments.

This is the note I sent Kris last week after I got my bass back from the repair shop, looking like nothing had ever happened.

bass looks and sounds great. I am very happy with the instrument and your
response when you found out that it was damaged. I want to complement you on
your work and customer support. I said I would send you a picture when
everything was settled in.

Hi everybody,
I bought a KK Baby Bass used and I am planning to take it on tour. We are going to fly and I want to minimize the size for air travel.
Is it possible to remove the neck?
It could be put in a normal suitcase then!
Did anybody try this?

I'd ask Kris, he is very responsive and helpful via email. I'd be interested in what you find out.
