Double Bass NBD: KK Baby-Bass

Anyone else owns one?
I know baby basses are known to be great for Latin music.
But I'm sure you can get other flavours with different strings.

I contacted kk asking for sting recommendation.
And he suggested dominant for growl and sustain.

Hi guys, how is the neck held in place, in some of the pictures I've seen it doesn't have a pin through the body at the top like the Ampeg BB4 had, so I'm wondering how they are holding the neck in place. Anyone who has one, can so send me some pics, I'm curious because I'm having a private luthier build me one and would love to use that method instead... thanks

email for pics: [email protected]

Thanks in advance
Rich

I JUST bought and received a KB1 from kkbaby-bass. KRIS the owner is a great guy! I have not been able to get a good tone with my Ampeg svt 7 pro amp with a Hartke HX115 cabinet. I have followed Kris suggestions and still no results. THE volume knob on the base is all the way up and the tone down. Any suggestions to get the great sound you are getting?

What were the suggestions made?
I will be getting mine some time next week, and will change the strings when I get a chance.
I was thinking to put a set of solo strings so the tension is low.
Also I will eventually get a preamp, not sure what preamp.
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking radial or the E.W.S.

does anyone know what kind of stand to get for EUB, it is annoying to put it in the bag and find a corner where to lean it down so it doesn't fall.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago, and i get a nice tone.

I'm hoping to record a quick iphone video sometime soon, I haven't played DB in 14 years so I'm getting used to it.

There is a lot of good info about BBs in general in the Baby Bass Megathread. KKs have been discussed a bit. I owned one for a short while. It was the travel bass and I only sold it because the string length threw me too much. I prefer a full sized fingerboard. It sounded really nice though.

I'm told it's a new model. The only reason I know about it is because Kris sent me a list of basses available for immediate sale....and this one was included. It's a 1/2 size, with a body size between the Classic and KB1.

Here's a YouTube video of it....I believe this is the exact bass I bought:

I wanted to post an update on my KK Baby Junior....it's been a great addition to my tool box. I've had occasion to correspond with the owner Kris several times, with questions and such. He's been great to work with, very responsive and obviously a guy who cares about his customers and product. I guess the best compliment I can provide here, is that if I lost my KK for some reason....I'd immediately replace it with another.
