I've been working on a new band project and thought a 5 string would make sense for some of the tunes. I was focused on the Sadowski MetroExpress and then saw this beauty on Bass Central and just like that I had an invoice in my inbox.
It weighs 10.5 lbs but with a 3" strap it is well balanced.
I've been playing it thru half of my live rig, along with tracks, to get a sense of it. As one might expect, it sounds like a powerful JBass and will sit just right in a dense mix.
I don't know what strings the factory uses, but they feel like steels, so it's a bit ganky for my taste.
Now begins the search for a set of nickel rounds. I like the Fender 7250's on my Fender AmPro ll PBass and will start with a set of those.
Are there any other suggestions?

I like the Fender 7250's
When I bought a Fender Ultra P in December 2019 it came with 7250's;

Was considering what strings I might try before Bass Came BUT Sounded great with 7250's kept them on 9 months still sounded fine but wanted to give new Markbass Ultimate Soft Touch a try they also worked great with a tad more 'Grind' and softer feel as advertised but still would be happy if I stayed with new set of 7250's

I have Stingray Special Now [2023] OEM Slinkys sounded good now using Cobalt Flats [aka Slinky Flats]

That's my recent experience but there are a lot of excellent Strings out their and 7250's is one of them IMO

Reactions: basspraiser
The factory strings on the 55-60 seem to be D'Addario XL170's. The gauges match up with the specs and they have the multi-colored ball ends and no silks at the tuner ends.
They have warmed up a bit and they seem well balanced for feel and tone. So no complaints. BUT STILL...it's a new bass and I have to try different strings and setups so I have new sets of Fender 7250 and Cobalt Flats on the way.
