/rəˈɡret/
verb
1. feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, especially a loss or missed opportunity).
A long time ago, I did something stupid. Actually I’ve done a lot of stupid stuff, but the one regret that I’ve really carried around in an almost daily fashion was over the selling of my beloved Rickenbacker bass. It was magical and probably the most valuable thing I owned at the time (aside from my car to get to work). Everybody who came into the house couldn’t help but pick it up and play it. I can’t exactly remember the circumstances the led to the sale...and I don’t want to. Since the internet came into our lives, I’ve searched exhaustively for that exact bass...my bass (a custom order lefty 1980 Ric 4001) to no avail. I would pay anything for it...give everything for it.
Long story short, now thirty years later, I gave up and ordered a brand new one! It’s unbelievable and remarkably the same as my old one. It’s a 2019 and I thought about holding out for the new bridge, but the action and intonation are at least spot on for the moment. Ordering online, I was a bit worried about the neck but this one feels just right, fairly thin front to back. I’m excited and it feels like there’s a bit of a load off my mind. I can stop searching now
