Waited 13 months for this and boy was it worth it. I received it yesterday 06.15, waited a few hours to open it, and stayed up until roughly 1am playing it. I have some nice basses but this is the first one that I have chosen every spec myself and I can say 100% that there is not one thing off or wrong on this bass. It's exactly as I envisioned, Everything down to the intonation is perfect...frets, sustain, every note is the exact same volume anywhere on the fretboard, and I think I've finally achieved that beautiful piano string tone that's been floating around in my head. I can't explain it...it just blooms and rings at any volume. I even requested a dark rosewood fingerboard that they accomidated. I can't recommend Mario Martin highly enough. They were great, and very easy to work with, as I know I was probably a bit of a pest along the way requesting subtle changes, nothing major but still, up to about six or seven months into the build. Thanks for allowing me to show it off.
SPECS: Mario Martin, Charcoal Frost...Matching headstock...Medium relic, Lollar High Wind Pickups, 1.625 nut, Spitfire Maroon tort...light relic, Gotoh Lollipop Tuners, 7lbs 10oz

Mario is a guy who had a budding Country Music career, but was smart enough to have a 'side hustle', which turned into The Guitar Mill (unfinished or finished guitar, bass bodies and necks, think a Tennessee-based smaller Warmoth), and finished guitars under his Mario Martin brand. He's no beginner, having paid his dues at Gibson, MIRC, and the Fender Custom Shop.

Located on West Lytle St. in Murfreesboro, TN, about a 1/2 hour south of metro Nashville, I once went down and saw the place and they do great work, and would not hesitate to buy from them as they're first-rate, and local to me which is a gas.

The crazy thing, is they're just off the Square in downtown Murfreesboro, great shopping and restaurants, and of all things, they're next door to The Hamery, a local smokehouse. So you walk out of Mario's joint, where all you smell is woodworking and lacquer, and outside all you smell is a smokehouse full of pork. One Stop Shopping !!

Anyway, the particulars . . .

You get the biscuits, I GOT the ham.

IF Mario and his crew aren't on your Rolodex for necks and bodies for the conventional FSO builds, they sure ought to be.

Lots of chips and scratches on it.
I’d send it back. ;)
