I'd love to assemble a "closet clean" MJT parts bass. It's their "least relic'd" finish. Instead of putting a Fender logo on it (which I do think is super lame) it would be cool to have a waterslide logo made in the same period correct font, but in a name of the bass owners choosing, like their name, or a name they gave the bass, nickname, etc. That would be way more original, still have the same period correct look, but not be completely fraudulent. Would also get more respect from others and be a cool topic of conversation.

The tuners were not in stock from their supplier, so they went with these. That is my biggest disappointment with the bass, but I'll rock it for now and possibly change them out in the future.
Fraud? a) it's not for sale and b) I came on the most renowned bass forum in the world to say, "hey check out my not Fender bass."
My bandmates all know that it's a MJT so the only people that are being "lied to" are the audience. Kind of the same way that anyone playing a "roadworn" or "relic'd" bass is lying to them. It's all something that has been faked to look a certain way. The only basses that would show this kind of wear are poly finishes that were made by Fender in the 50's or 60's. Any Fender style relic'd bass is trying to fool the audience into believing it is a Fender, decal or not.

It's been my experience that the best way to get respect is to give respect, but what do I know I'm just a scummy, lame fraud.
I agree a custom decal is the best solution.
Having said that, the OP has openly disclosed everything he's done, on a worldwide website. And it's not like it hasn't been done before. Calling it lame is subjective. Calling it fraudulent misses the mark completely.
It’s beautiful nonetheless. I hope your ‘biggest’ disappointment is just as tiny as a grain of rice. Enjoy that beauty.
Pretty sure they burn in MJT in the pocket and heel so as to not confuse a future buyer .
FYI, I have some relic’d reverse tuners for sale here on TB that would match your bass well. If you’re interested feel free to PM me. Also, I’ve swapped the same tuners you have on there for reverse ones on one of my old basses before, and while you’ll need to drill new mounting holes, the reverse tuners’ base plates will still cover all of the old holes at least.
Also, just curious, but why did you sent the entire neck back for them just to relic the decal? Did they actually discolor it too? From the pics it looks like they just knicked it a few times with a screwdriver or something (which I’m sure you could have done).
