I can't afford a real 62 P bass or a custom shop for $4,000 so I rolled the dice on a MJT. I had heard really good things about them and seemed some of their stuff was really good and some not so much. They really did a good job communicating and working with me to give me what I wanted. I am really happy with the way it turned out. It's pretty hard to convey exactly how you want something relic'd, but they were patient dealing with me sending multiple pics of other basses and trying (sometimes poorly) to describe just what i wanted.
Anyhow, here we go. Oly white nitro body from Wildwood, Jazz width neck from Allparts, Hardware from Allparts also relic'd by MJT. The pickguard is a '63 reissue from Fender. The pickup is a regular wound Fralin that I picked up here in the classified. Strung with Sunbeams. I had them ship me out the neck after they painted it so I could put on the waterslide decal. I sent it back to them and the relic'd it. I didn't wan't a brand new decal on a relic'd headstock and they wouldn't put it on there for me.My bandmate used to be a tech at GC and does really nice work. When he moved out here from Alabama guys would ship their guitars and basses out here for him to work on. He rolled the neck, did a fret job and set it up. It plays like butter! My local GC has a custom shop relic Jazz and custom shop P. I prefer my MJT for relic job and playability.

It feels amazing! The neck is soooooo smooth and the body is worn in just the right places. I'm really happy with how it turned out. They were really great to work with. The only downside is the wait time. It was over 4 months from payment to when I received the bass.

I love MJT's products. I had previously built a '58 P clone based on an MJT body and I'm now in the process of bulding my second using an MJT body which will be a '60 Jazz clone with the stack knobs. I expect the body perhaps sometime next week. It's taken over three months from when I ordered it, but I know it will be worth the wait. I ordered a lightweight pine jazz body from them for this project. With Gotoh Resolite tuners, I expect the finished product to be 8lbs or less including the big chrome cover over the bridge.

I have had several mjt bodies and still have tele thinline that I custom ordered that they made years ago. They do great work and are nice people. I recommend them.

That build looks great! I love the p bass jazz neck combo as well.

How do you like the Fralin? I just ordered one of their PJ sets for an old St. Blues I’ve decided to work on. I like their overwound J idea.

Well done, congrats!

Can't speak for guitars produced by MJT, although I like what I've seen. I can speak for their finishes having had them do 2 for me. Great to work with and the results were exactly what I wanted.
