It's not really new, as I bought this Harley Benton Jazz Bass last year, but I finally modded it.
I have a CIJ 51 p bass with flats and I love how it sounds, wanted to get a more "modern" alternative to use with rounds. The harley benton was cheap and looked cool (+ contours and slim neck bonuses) so it was the ideal platform for this weird project.
I put a split SCPB pickup for no hum, also being a bit more towards the bridge I can get the 4th fret harmonic which I actually use in one song.
The bridge pup is a custom made split Jazzmaster inspired pickup by MAMA pickups. The coil is not as tall as the J bass and is more squat, somehow more similar to a P bass bobin. I have to say I am amazed by the result! Very big and fat sound, useable even when soloed.
The wiring is Vol 3way switch tone with push pull for series/parallel, I used 500k pots IIRC. The pups interact well together luckily. I'll probably end up changinf the tone cap because I'd like more cut than the default HB one offers.
