Tried one of these basses last Sunday. I was really impressed,,,only to find out that they have been discontinued and my local music store could not get one. So I scoured the internet and found one in a Long & MaQuade store just over an hour away. I am tickled that I picked the only one they had...on sale for $499 Canadian $$ ($437.48 USD) at todays rates. I could not be happier!

The entire modern player line is a great deal for the money! I first purchased the mp jaguar, great tone,good balance and a beautiful neck, just a bit too chunky for my small hands. I now have a 1st generation mp jazz bass, i put a babicz bridge and a tusq not on it, she plays and sounds amazing! This jazz bass is a keeper, i will never sell it!!!

Rockscott....Your M.P.Jazz sounds like a great bass. I never gave the Tele Bass a 2nd thought because I ASSUMED that the neck would be like a base ball bat...which it is not. I too have short fingers...that is one reason why I have a Geddy Lee. Tried the M.P. Tele Bass at a friends house and was very surprised how well it sounded and played. With another humbucker by the bridge it adds some "brightness" (if there is such a thing with this bass) to the over all sound for me making it less "muddy" than my Squier Tele bass was. I have a Fender P Bass with a 1/4 pounder pickup..and this bass blows that out of the water for deep low notes... here is another pic of this model (not my bass but just like mine)

Congrats man! I picked up the Butterscotch model last year and could not be happier with it. I think it has become my most frequently used bass since I picked it up. The versatility and low end thunder that it puts out is just amazing.

I really do not think that it is any heavier than my VM 70's Jazz/ my Geddy Lee or my MIM Precision. I am so used to those that to me this feels not different.
