I just got this bass the other day. I bought it from my friend's dad who bought it in the late 70's. It is an early Telecaster Bass with a later humbucker-looking split coil in the middle position. It has also been refinished and sprayed sparkly bluish green with a little hint of purple in it. I am obsessed with this thing. It is exactly what I wanted. It sounds somewhere between an EB-0 and a P Bass. Overall this thing sounds amazing and is a really sweet modded, vintage Fender.

Very cool looking bass. I had a '68 back in the early 80's. I think I paid $400 for it back then....

I......I.......I feel funny in my pants seeing that bass. Gas attack in full swing and not just from the burritos I ate earlier! Beeeaautiful bass!

It's actually not a split coil in there, it's a side-by-side humbucker. The "missing" four pole pieces can be adjusted from the back side of the pickup, if you take it out of the bass.

Me to! Except in a fiver. I'd personally prefer the origial chrome control plate though.

I must admit that I'm also slightly obsessed with that look. A couple of years ago I saw an photo of a cheap tele copy that had been modded with a cheap mudbucker copy in that pickup position. That got my imagination going...

Anyway, that's a really cool bas you've got!
