NBD: Musicman Bongo 4 HH Cherry Red / Rosewood neck

I have been looking around for a 5 string Musicman Stingray or Bongo for a few weeks but haven't had any luck. Yesterday I came across this beauty and despite it being only 4 strings, for the price I had to have it.

Scored it for $1,350 AUD ($1,085 USD) which for these parts is a complete steal.

I pick it up tomorrow. Just hoping I can get over the missing string.

Picked it up today. Whilst I really have to keep reminding myself that there isn't a 5th string, it plays so well.

Still trying to figure out the eq. Any suggestions from other Bongo players? I generally like that modern growl tone ala At The Drive-In.

Congrats on a great beautiful bass. The eq is extremely sensitive to minor adjustments and it takes a while to find what you are looking for. Start at the center detents and experiment a bit. That sound would be favoring the neck pup I think with some mid and mid low boost....at least that's my first impression. It's a very cutting bass that sits a bit on top of the mix and I think the Bongo should be able to cop it pretty well.

I just got over my Fender P GAS by buying one. Now all of a sudden a small flame has been lit by various Bongo post here lately. Don't see it happening any time soon though.
That is one sweet bass, congratulations!
