NBD - my first 5 string!

I feel like sire sells their basses for what they’re worth instead of what the market will bear.

I've heard Sire basses being played by both pro and semi-pro players and they sound pretty good to me. I'd buy one in a heart beat if they made them lighter.
Welcome to the 5-string side! It'll take some time to get comfortable but my money says you'll never regret moving into 5er territory (though you may sometimes find it necessary to play a 4, 6, 7, etc sometimes).
That is a real beauty! I purchased a 5 to play in church and within a few months, sold my 4. I love the deep low end on the B string and the soundman is wild about it. Good luck with your new pride and joy. 
I'd been thinking and talking about buying a 5 string for a while, so finally decided to pull the trigger. Didn't want to buy something expensive in case I decide it's not for me. Had a look around for budget 5 strings, looked at a sub stingray then saw the Sire M2 basses on thomann.

Ta-da! It's really unlike me to buy something without trying it first, but it paid off! How this bass only cost me £315 I don't know - it's flawless! The finish is superb (looks loads better in person can't get a pic that shows off the blue), great feeling neck, sounds fantastic, brilliant preamp, string-through. I think some companies should look at this and hang their heads in shame.
It will take me a while to get used to the extra string and bigger neck, but so far so good

About 1.5 months in on my 5 string. Besides the normal technique stuff I’m sure you already thought about, I found string muting troublesome too. But just be more conscious of it and it solves itself

I believe these are 35" scale-- I know the M7 is, ( I have one) and the M2 is pretty much an M7 except the pickups are selectable (single/parallel/series) on the M7 and are humbuck only in M2. And you can get a maple board on the M2 (advantage: M2 on that count). Weight not sure but the M7 is pretty light and comfortable. I am sure the M2 is also (same body).
M7/M2/M3 are pretty light. V7's can be heavier. I have a V7 5-string that is a bit heavy but plays great (and they have gotten a bit lighter, or at least more consistent in weight, since the early ones like mine came out).
I've said the same thing-- playability-wise, too. Both are 35" scale for 5's. I have a Kingston MTD Z6 six string as well as a Sire M7 so the comparison is a direct one for me. Not sure how they compare to the full-on MTD (as opposed to Kingston) but Kingstons are very nice; I would not expect a Sire M7/M3 etc to compare to a $4000 MTD but they are in the same league with the $1400 MTD Kingstons. M7's also have pickup selection switch (single./parallel/series) like some Kingston models do (though Sire M2/M3 do not).

I've got 4, 6, 7 string, and will be adding a fiver soon. For muting, I just use a FretWrap. A Nordymute would work, too.

My M2 5-String is in the mail and I'm currently loving my V3 5-String. How do you like the tone of it so far??I'm thinking about upgrading the pickups in mine when it arrives. I also saw someone's M2 with a Hipshot A bridge and it looked sweet!

Great stuff! I hope you're as happy with yours when it arrives as I am with mine. I love the tone, my main bass is a stingray and this isn't a million miles off - maybe a little darker sounding but with the preamp I can get almost spot on.
If you do decide to upgrade yours you will have to let me know how you get on
