Love the color, looks great with almost any color pickguard, aged cream pearl for example.... enjoy, it’s a great instrument!

Both are great choices, but I think that black really sets off Charcoal Frost. CF is such a great color, it's too bad that it's been discontinued. Congrats! To see what CF looks like with a tort pg, I believe that's the color combo on the Custom Shop Sean Hurley P Bass.

I'm with Tbone. A 3-ply black/white/black pickguard looks awesome on that combination!

On the subject of pickguard colors I have two questions:

1. Where is a reliable, high quality artisan who can fetch me a custom pickguard for my basses?

2. When found, can they create ANY color you want? I was wondering if you could go to Lowes, get a paint sample, send it, and have a guard made in that color.

If they can do all this, the OP might have more options than all the usual suspects.

I had the Jazz version and put a genuine Fender tort pickguard on if you want to see what it looks like. I had the mint also.

do these have the graphite neck rods in them? the 08 standars?

Congrats! I think graphite rods became standard issue on the American Standard/American Series back in 1999 or 2000.

Congrats! Concur wholeheartedly on the Am necks. I've had a couple of MIMs, no real issues--but the neck on my Am J is in a different category. Enjoy!

I like the bridges on the American Standard Fenders. High mass vintage I think they call that type. Same as on my ‘10 Precision V. They seem to work well.

Stick with white or go pearloid. Wife happens to be sitting next to me and definitely thinks a white pickguard looks perfect on that bass. Let me add....Rarely does she agree so readily and I run this kind of stuff by her all the time.

Agreed - IMO, the stock bridges on the Am Standards are some of the best bridges ever made...

Often times, more money gets better stuff. Not that MIJ, MIM etc, are bad, just not quite the same normally. The tort pic looks good, but I'd at least like to see what the mint does with it.
