Quite a few had the truss rod off Center when they first came out, according to several people here who bought them.
I was very interested in buying either the Jazz or the Precision with the rosewood neck but the only two I saw at two different Guitar centers had this issue.

Weird issue!

I wasn't entirely sold on the sort of dusty finish they had on the rosewood and the fact that action was so high. It felt odd having a satin finishes neck with those pores, right next to a high gloss poly body.

I don't mind shimming basses; most of mine have shims. If I took a brand spanky Fender out the box I wouldn't want to be immediately popping the neck off and fitting a shim however!
