The luthier drill the string retainer at the wrong position and I'm quite bummed about it. Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out and it sounds and plays like a dream. Real low action with no dead notes.

Sunburst/black/maple is such a nice colour scheme, been meaning to put a similar bass together myself.

If the luthier didn't do as you asked, request that he fills the hole & repositions the string tree. Most would be happy to rectify their mistakes.

For some reason mongrel, parts guitars really appeal to me. I think it is just the concept that with bolt-on necks and the availability of any other part you need from a variety of sources online, you can build just about any guitar you want to, and do it relatively cheap.

I take it you bought the parts, or had them lying around, and had a luthier assemble them for you, or did you buy the guitar as is?

I bought the parts and got them assembled by the luthier.

Yeah, I would reposition that string tree (it's just one small hole...fill it with a dab or two of white or superglue to stabilize the hole), otherwise, that baby is a looker! Nice bass!!!
