I really like Japanese Fenders and hadn't owned a PJ for a while so when this old beast came along I had to jump on it....I'm really glad I did. Yes, it's very monochromatic and very red...the 80's were really something, luckily this bass has a really big sound to match it's "visual personality".

Thanks! As far as the red goes I just like to "make it work" with whatever I'm using, I've been using a lot of interesting basses lately and it's been a blast.
Fortunately this bass doesn't really look "cheap" in person(to me anyway) which is what I worry about with a solid color, especially a bright one. It's hard to tell from photos but the red has a bit of depth to it.
The other thing I've not liked before is the feel of a painted neck but this one feels fine. I might try some standard chrome Fender P-bass knobs on there at some point.
