I'm not crazy about the mint ice cream color pickguard. I like the more vintage mint pickguard that is more gray in it. Should I leave it, or what color pickguard on white with maple?

White PG on white body/maple neck for the win. Classic and always in style. Add the ashtray for extra style points

I just have the knobs off for now. I'll check the hardware store to see what they have. It's literally a 1/4 mile from me. If not I'll order the bag of set screws or new knobs. I thought I had an extra set from a telecaster but I may have used them on a build I long since sold off.

Or it could be just the covers got swapped around.
(a q-tip with a dab of acetone will take care of the logo)

The SPB 4 is actually a pretty nice vintage-sounding PU.
If the knobs just spin but aren't "sloppy", a set screw should take care of it.
If you get new knobs - check if the pot shafts are sae or metric - they could have been replaced along the way...

Very nice bass you found ! Congrats.
I wouldn't change anything on it as the color match is awesome and those Steve Harris pickups are extremely good, among the punchiest you can find.
If ever you change the pickguard, don't sell the actual one as you may regret it later on……
The pickups have been installed the wrong way but if they sound good, no need to turn them 180 degrees although this is not very complicated to do.
And a chip missing here and there gives it a road worn look which is trendy nowadays.

That metallic copper looks cool, and suggests a refin at some point.
I'd be tempted to see how easily the white paint comes off, because a metallic copper P-bass with a maple fretboard would be kinda killer - with whatever color pickguard.

It looks like its original. Pretty well used. The Fender logo is orginal.

That year 2011 ... they had a limited run copper metalic burst p bass. I wonder if this was the base coat for that? The copper metalic with gold anodized guard?

Oh. In regard to the pickups being reversed etc. It could easily just be the covers, right? I'll need to look at the wiring scematic and see.

Really cool bass congrats! Don't waste any money on that bridge cover people are talking about they get in the way of palm muting and you don't need additional obstacles to begin.

The hidden copper flake is really cool I'd be tempted to spend weeks sanding off the top finish but never actually be silly enough to try. But you know added chips will look badass now. Enjoy!

Nice find! By the way, I bought a MIA Fender Jazz Bass V (5 tuners in a row) in the early 90's and it came with a case shaped just like yours, but the case was black. Come to think of it, the carry handle cracked off within about 6 months. Looks like your handle is gone too. I used a small piece of rope to rig it; matter of fact, 33 years later - the rope is still there.

The handle is still on the case.

Who ever played it wore a ring. The high E side of the neck has rolled edge to the neck.

Well FYI, TrueValue does carry set screws. I dropped by without the knobs and bought the fender size. They don't fit. I'll go back in there with the knobs to try to fit them. They must be a knock off knob and not fender size.
