NBD: Pitbull kit bass - RD

Spent a few days of my summer vacation building this kit from pitbull. The wood staining and finish took the longest time, but all in all i got a pretty good player.

Nice! Love the look of the Gibson RD bass's. Might have to check that out!

I just got an rd kit last week and just finished the pickup routing and filling in the old spots left open.

The neck i got kinda feels like an ibanez gsr200 and the frets did come leveled and polished pretty good no clue how it sounds yet hopefully good lol

Got mine almost done just in the shop getting fret work done I thought the frets were pretty leveled but they were very uneven

Looks great! Prep work is key. With my Pitbull Flying V bass kit the body needed lots of sanding, I started at 150 grit and went up to 320. The body needed much more attention than the neck. Overall it built into a nice bass assembly was pretty easy and straight forward. I've been building my own basses since '81 and the Pitbull kit was a lot of fun. For the V I used Mowhawk deep penetrating stain (alcohol based, it's what The big guys use I don't recommend Minwax oils based stains they are murky and don't bite in) then finished it in Mowhawk lacquer.
