I just wanted to make a brief post about my positive experience with a recent custom build I had commissioned with luthier Paul Gaita of Prairie Heart Customs.

I had heard/read great things about this luthier from some people on Talkbass that I knew had discerning eyes for quality gear, and I was also a big fan of his double-cut body shape. I was lucky enough to find one of his basses locally used to try out, and I really liked the ergonomics, fret-work, and overall quality. After that I knew I had to have one built with my specs and wood choices.

Paul was a really great guy to deal with, and provided great communication and detailed pictures throughout the whole process. When the bass arrived, the setup, fretwork, and fit and finish were all spot on, and the bass sounded incredible. The action can be setup very low like I want, and that coupled with the balance and ergonomics make it my really comfortable to play.

If you're in the market for a custom bass definitely give Prairie Heart Customs some consideration.
