Thing is, I could care less what it looks like. Looks were an afterthought. The B string and tone sold me. Fortunately, it looks kinda good. ;-)

Gorgeous bass! I had the chance to play a full custom Grainger with a spalted maple top at the Nashville GC a few years back, they are incredible basses! Congrats!!

Just from "feel" memory, I'd say something like a Stingray 5 neck. It's not Ibanez thin, but it doesn't feel chunky either. I believe it's a little wider than the SR at the nut.

Is this one a so-called "10 Top"? The ones that have the best grain on the top are labelled "10 Top" and cost a bit more, but I gotta tell ya, even the non-10 tops I've seen look stunning. Congrats, beautiful either way!

No, it's just a regular top.

Wow...honestly, most of their regular tops look better than the 10 tops, at least on the sweetwater website

Ok, I am officially in love with that bass and I want one....

I was perusing the web site and I noticed a photo of the neck heel....I don't see any neck bolts and it doesn't look like a set-in neck....how is the neck attached?

The 10's have natural binding also.

No the Grainger 10 Tops are priced higher than the non 10's. But I agree with the observation that the non 10's can be better looking. To me, regularity of wood grain does not always equate to better looking, sometimes variation in the grain enhances the look, but then again, I'm not really into basses for their look ;-)

Gotcha, while I love all that is PRS, I would go with tone and playability over looks, but the "look" is what makes me pick up the instrument in the first place. I hate being broke!!!

It's a little long and it's different than the hipshot bridges. The ball end of the strings clip into the notch at the end of the bridge, it's not string through. Not sure if that's an advantage or just different, but the bass stayed in tune very well last night. I believe the bridge plate is made form aluminum and the saddle are made from brass.

I really like the look of the strings anchoring that way!

Sure the plate is Alu?
Do you know if this bridge is available as aftermarket part too?

No worries, didn't take it as negative. Even if it was negative, everyone has an opinion. ;-) I'll have to look tonight but I think the batteries are under the bridge (could be wrong) and you wouldn't be able to do string through. Even if you could, the B E and A strings are tapered so you would need extra special longer tapered strings to do string through. Obviously, you can use other strings, but I really like the ones that come stock.
