NBD! Rare Gretsch Spectrasonic!

View attachment 803225 Happened upon this recently. TV Jones designed for Gretsch around 2,000-2,001. 100 made in the US. This one is number 69

It's got its fair share of dings, but no damage. Picked it up at FedEx about 20 minutes before a gig. Even though the strings were not so good and in desperate need of a setup, I couldn't resist giving it a spin.

I'm a huge fan of TV Jones pickups. Awesome growl and punch. I have a custom Drake with TV Jones blade pickups. The ones in the Gretsch are normal Thundertrons and they sound terrific too! 33" scale and plays really well...good balance. I was afraid there'd be some neck dive, but no problem!

I've taken a bunch of different basses to this country/rockabilly gig and my bandmates don't seem to notice one way or another, but they had a lot of great things to say about the look and sound of this bass :)

If you happen to stumble across one of these, I highly recommend snapping it up!
I GAS for Gretsch. Congrats.

One of these came up for a song on the local Craigslist recently and was gone by the time I messaged the seller.

Just my luck!

Beautiful bass by the way!

Thanks!

I've seen a couple over the years go pretty cheap (under $1,500). I got mine for a reasonable price. Eventually, these are bound to shoot up some since only 100 were made in the U.S. I recently saw a brand new C Melody from Fender Japan listed for nearly $4,500!
