NBD: Red Precision!

I had always bought American, European or Japanese basses. Last December I thought, "I just want an affordable bass that I can play anywhere." I always liked red P-basses and I ordered a Player II Coral Red P-Bass directly from Fender, which was my first ever MIM instrument in my 59 year existance on this planet. The first one was returned due to a nut issue. The second one was returned because of an extremely pale rosewood fingerboard. This is the third one. I got lucky and the bass is fantastic! (kudos to Fender customer service). No issue at all.

Before ordering, I planned to replace the stock pickup with a GZR or a Fender '62, but the stock pickup is surprisingly good. Very punchy and crisp. Strung with Hi-Beams, this bass sounds explosive. I also planned to replace the stock bridge with a Kickass bridge, but the stock bridge is fine. So, this bass will remain stock except that I put a tort pickguard. I paid a total of $777. I guess that's why I got lucky on the third occasion. The coral red is very pretty; even my wife loves it.

Diggin' it! The Coral is quite vibrant. Enjoy it thoroughly! I've had a few MIM Fenders and none of them was a dud.

Now, when someone says, "If you could have a PBass, what color would you get", I have a ready answer. I've often wondered about stock bridges and that stuff but now I don't think it makes much difference as long as it is sturdy, accurate and easily adjustable. CONGRATULATIONS! WOW

Its neck is slimmer than my two MIA P basses’ necks. And strung with 40-95 Hi-Beams, it plays superbly and effortlessly with low action (2 mm on the E and 1.8 mm on the G).

That's a nice looking bass, added bonus is your wife loves it. Buy a matching Jazz

Fiesta red is lighter and less vibrant than coral red.

I also got a NBD red precision last night. Mine is lesser in the name but infamous 2009 Squier CV. Happy NBD to you!!

That red reminds me a bit of my MIJ (actually CIJ) Jaguar bass in Hot Rod Red. You have a great looking bass - that is the perfect tort. Red (and blue) with tort can be very hard to match, a lot of tort is too red to match. I am in the school of thought that the old rolled Fender style bridges are actually better than the higher mass Badass styles, and I've bought a few with Badasses that I ended up changing back to Fender rolled.
