NBD Shergold Telstar

I picked up a bass today that I'm willing to bet no one else on talkbass has yet! These were just released earlier this month. From the UK to Wisconsin, here it is, a Shergold Telstar!
I switched to short scales pretty recently and when I saw this pop up I thought it looked pretty cool. I had owned a Cabronita and a Proto Precision bass in the past and those both had these style of pickups (however I think those ones were a little better quality).
This was pretty cheap at around $600 shipped and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with lots of aspects. The roasted neck looks and feels great!
The finish feels nice. There is no neck dive. It just looks cool too!
The strings it shipped with are garbage, but that will be fixed soon. The tuners are cheap, but they work. The pickups are ok. I might consider swapping them for some TV Jones Thunderblades in the future. Feels like it's around 8 lbs but I haven't actually weighed it.
One weird thing I noticed is that with all 3 knobs dimed there is no sound. Maybe a wire or 2 is crossed?

I cannot believe that it balances so well! That is a triumph in and of itself. That is a beautiful body shape and the chrome is popping. It has some heavy car-inspired touches. My mother had a car that color when I was young and I loved it so much. The fretboard color is great too. I would have ordered it just like that. What kind of wood is the body made of? Did you order this directly from the manufacturer?

I *just* got one of the Squier CV Mustang basses exactly like yours and I absolutely love it. Now it looks like I need to chase down a Sherwood! Would love to hear how it sounds.

Edit: just saw that there are demo videos on the website!

Shergold is alive again ? This is good news. We can all use a taste of Briths lutherie. It looks nothing like the original ones though.
I loved the plexi bridge and switchable electronics.

I used to have a fretless shergold and it was apparently very rare. I sold it and regret it to this day.

I ordered from Bass Direct's Reverb shop. I was also really surprised it balanced so well!

The Classic Vibe Mustang recently became my number 1 even though I own a couple of MUCH more expensive basses. It is so much fun to play.

Visual cue: At first glance, this Tele-style body, the proportions are subtly different, bigger than a trad Tele body.

You can see the benefit of this dimensional sleight of hand: This pushes the strap button far closer to the 12th fret marker, so it balances well. The closer with any shape that gets the top strap button close to the 12th fret marker, pretty good bet there will be no balance issues. On the other hand, a T Bird is almost always neck heavy with that strap button almost at the end of the fingerboard. All about balance and where the C of G falls.
