Glarry's with a little work prove there is no truth in the saying 'you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear' don't own one myself but as a tinkerer it's just a matter of time, I've heard so much good stuff about them. But, yeah that finish is abysmal and a fairly decent quality manufacturer like Sire may have made a major faux pas with this offering.

Honestly mate, send it back say the finish is awful, tell them it wasn't what was advertised, they are just sitting on their laurels expecting folks to buy their stuff without question. Hopefully they'll take heed, put this experiment behind them and go back to doing what they do best.
Sire seems to have a history of teething problems with v.1 for many of their instruments. Most recently BassTheWorld (which is paid to demo gear) hated the tuners of the M6 in their review last week -- and they had to reach out to Sire which provided 'updated' tuners that fixed Gregor's complaints. But we also saw pickup and electronics issues in other v.1 bass hardware in the past.

That's really disappointing from Sire. I have 3 of their Jazz's and each one has a great finish (Especially my TBS V5). I like the look of the Sunburst V6 but if that's what the finish is like, I think I'll wait.

That is just junk woodwork at any price. All that looks like a piece that was badly mis-cut with saw marks all over it and they didn’t/couldn’t sand them out and stay in spec for the shape.
They turn very easy, not as precise as Gotoh ones I have used on other Sire's.

Don’t worry about the serial in this case – the V6 is a brand new model. You got one from the first batch that Sweetwater received.

Sire announced the V3 bass then quickly switched to a v.2 version in late 2018. Sire released the V7 bass in 2015 then fixed a bunch of issues and made upgrades with v.2 in 2018. The V9 received upgraded electronic and rolled fingerboard edges etc, same for the P7, the M2, and the M7 (maybe more models too?).
I just never ever buy the first of anything off the assembly line. I don't necessarily wait for a 2nd edition model but there are always manufacturing refinements and bugs caught several months after an initial release of hardware. I'm up for a new iPhone 17 Pro, which came out a month ago. I'll be buying one in December at which point they'll have maufacturing experience and probably refinements by their 90 millionth model off the line.

Na, Sire introduced the 2nd generation of all original models (M2, M7, P7, V3, V7/V7 Vintage and V9) in 2018 or 2019, and their serial numbers were changed to start with 2N.
After that, all other new models (including all guitar models, too) had serial numbers starting with 2nd. Therefore, for all models introduced after 2019 (including the brand new V6) "2nd generation" is meaningless — it just has a meaning for those models that were introduced much earlier.
I see two things: 1) Sire is saying the quiet part out loud to me with this model and 2) the future. We loves our cheapies but that is way too expensive for that kind of ‘finish’. I really would hesitate to call it a finish but more of a quit.
I called Sweetwater to return it. Guy told me that the bass would easily pass the 55 point because that is how Sire makes this model. WoW!
I just noticed the common reviews of the P6/V6 (Andertons, BassTheWorld, Lowendlobster) do not really show the sides of the body at length... But it would look as the sides (and particularly the Mahagony body beneath the sand lasted Ash top) are not "groovy", at least that isn't mentioned by reviewers, IIRC...
So I would hope that your instrument is really an outlier, finish-wise... (Not, that this would be of help to you...
).
