I'm not generally the type to post a new bass day, but I'm too excited not to. :)

I have always loved the Jazz body style, but am generally a P guy, so when the Blacktop came out, I was pretty excited, but didn't like some of it. So I figured I would part one together instead of an off-the-shelf one. Here's what I ended up with, just fished assembly today:

Blacktop Body in Pearl
Warmoth P neck, slim taper. Naked Goncalo Alves w\ a Pao Ferro FB
Hipshot HB1 tuners
EMG HZ pups (Feel like I'm in the minority on this, but I really dig em!)
CTS pots and Switchcraft jack, of course
Gotoh 201
Chrome dome knobs
Fender Flats for now, but they won't stay for long.

Haven't had a chance to play it out and about yet, just here, so dunno how it sounds in the mix yet, but I sure like it in my living room! Very fat but accurate. The bridge P adds a sound that is certainly its own. The sum of its parts certainly turned out hefty, though. Bathroom scale tells me its right at 10 lbs.

So yeah...that's my super exciting NBD. :bassist:

Thanks guys! I appreciate it!

Yeah, I didn't figure the HZ's would get much love. :) Honestly, I am still trying to figure out what I like and what I don't. For example, I just found out today during rehearsal that I don't really care for the sound of the QP's (insert gasp here). At least not in the setting I was playing in. So the HZ's work for me for now, but I am still experimenting. I think the DP127's are the next in line.

Currently its wired VVT, but I have a blend pot ready for it. That will be another one of the experiments. Play it t his way for a couple of months, then change it up a bit. Might go crazy and do VVT with DP127's where each volume is push pull for series/parallel. lol

I dunno about the sound clips....once I do that, then you all will realize that I am not, in fact, victor wooten. :D
