Saw this unicorn in the TB classifieds. I figured it was worth a two hour drive to see if I liked it. It was totally worth it. Fortunately, I had the right trade-bait to make this swap happen.

Still figuring a few things out with the pre. Still getting used to how it feels to be back on a 35" 5-string. Already liking how it opens up new fingerings of old riffs. It sounds wonderful going right into my interface and DAW without an additional pre. I'm expecting an eviction notice next week :)

Brutal.

Dang. Been trying the Webster 16th note technique and starting to get it. This bass has changed my attack and ears in a very short time. I recently pulled out my beloved Nash PB63 and the string spacing felt wide, the action felt high, and the tone was so different that I found it hard to play. The Spector is piano-like and melodic compared to the thumpy bumpy flat fueled P sound.

Sound clip. A version of MManson's Nobodies.

Spector > Demeter VTBP M 800D > Logic using the "modern" bass amp plug-in (*cough* Mesa 400+ *cough*).

Logic drummer track. NI Maschine for all other parts.
