NBD Spector Coda w/Quilted Purple!

Dude, did you sell it this one back to Guitar Center?

[This invalid link has been removed]

I got really confused looking at the used Spector section and running across this!
I eventually decided to return it to Guitar Center, there were several issues not disclosed prior to ordering, so rather than invest money into trying to fix all of these, I ended up returning it (damage to the headstock from shipping, lack of hardshell case, treble pot not working). None of these were big deals and we’re all fixable. If I was willing to put more money into a bass in that condition, I thought it should’ve cost about $800 less than what I paid for it. If I had gotten it cheaper, I may have kept it and dealt with the issues.

Ultimately I needed this bass for a tribute project and instead, I bought a purple Stingray Special 5H as a replacement, which is worked out much better for my needs.

I’ll keep searching for a nice purple Coda 5XL, and at some point I’m likely to find what I’m looking for, but for now unfortunately, this one wasn’t it.

Oh man, totally understand! I got ordered an US Spector NS-JH5 a few years back that was supposed to have a case. It didn't but I'm glad I had it shipped to the store because we able to come to a resolution before I left. Thankfully the bass was in expected condition but when the opened the box and I realized they just shipped it wrapped in butcher paper, I almost had a heart attack. I guess that's the risk you take from big box retailer.

I'm sorry it didn't work out though, that was a beauty of an instrument. Maybe they will lower the price accordingly!

Yeah, it is a really nice custom made instrument and they’re making the Coda anymore. The weight was good, then neck was really nice and thin and the electronics sounded great.

If I were able to acquire it at a lower price ($2000-2200) I likely would have kept it as I don’t currently have a nice fretless and it could have filled that role. However, I have a very specific need for a tribute project and couldn’t justify this + another that could fit the need better at this time.

Absolutely makes sense.
