2017 US Spector Coda with quilted maple top, it weighs a little under 9lbs

The body is slightly smaller than a standard Jazz body and light (which I also like a lot). The neck is really nice and thin, slightly thinner than my US NS5s and RST.

The Aguilar pickups and preamp are a great fit for this style of bass because it provides the tone you would expect. It’s very even and very easy to get great tones. There’s also a ton of m’whaaah and I’m having a blast playing chords, slides, and harmonics on this neck. It’s a joy to play.

That is a beauty. If I'm not mistaken that one was the one used at Guitar Center. I had been eyeballing it for a while since I have been looking for a lined fretless. But then a lined Spector fretless popped up on the classifieds here and I grabbed it.

Either way, awesome looking instrument! I have two Codas, one JJ and the other PJ. Every time I take them out I get compliments on the tone.

Did you add the wood knobs or were those already there?

No, not an issue for my playing style.

Did you add the wood knobs or were those already there?

I added them, the plastic knobs that came with it just didn’t work for me.

Yep, I negotiated a bit better deal as well… and the purple fits right in with my other Spector’s

My next will have a purple quilted maple top. Thank you for solidifying that. Gorgeous bass. May it forever play as good as it looks.

The more I think about this , the more likely I am to be a little mad that you saw this before me !!! Even though Jazz basses are just too big for me , I surely would have snatched this up because I love the Spector sound , just not that long reach on their normal body shape.

Do the Codas have that same reach or does the Jazz body make it play more like a Fender?

Yeah, the reach is similar to a Jazz for sure because the top horn comes closer to the 12th fret. The neck is super thin too, more like a four string jazz versus a five string.

I actually didn’t find this on my own, fellow Spector enthusiast (@VeryTallBassist) sent me a heads up on this one, as he thought it was a fit with my others and knew I have a project that it may fit with… so I wasn’t ‘really’ in the market until I saw this

I don’t have a complete family photo of all my purple Spector’s yet, but here are some action photos and remarkably the new one made it in as well.
