I bought a Squier Sonic Bronco Bass when they were on sale recently. I had a TV Jones Thunderblades pickup laying around, but couldn't find a pickguard for this bass and a humbucker, so I made one today. I put chrome flats on it, too.

I used a jigsaw and an oscillating spindle sander and just freehanded the bevel on the latter.Nice! How did you make the pickguard?
It's good. Thumpy but not muddy.Ooh,how’s it sound with the Thunderblade? Been tempted to grab one of these as a mod platform after playing a pink (coral?) one at GC. Don’t currently have a short-scale, which seems like Talkbass negligence.![]()
I think this is why I haven’t pulled the trigger on one as a mod platform yet… the “stock” one I tried at GC felt and sounded nice enough that modding it would seem kinda pointless. The Bronco has really been making some names with the new colors and slight upgrades.
